On the occasion of the so anticipated retrospective on Vermeer held at the Rijksmuseum this year, I wanted to look into the art of forgery. Where is the link you might think? Well, Vermeer is one of the artists whose works have been heavily copied. One of the most talented forgers of Vermeer’s works, fooling a large amount of collectors and curators, is Han van Meegeren.
